Joey Sparks

Hey everyone...we're glad you've found your way to WYTI. We're all excited about this opportunity for personal improvement.

I am Joey Sparks, the Youth Minister at the Midway Church of Christ in Jasper, Alabama. My wife Amanda and I have been working with the Midway church for over four years now. We also celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary on May 20th.


We feel very strongly about making responsible financial decisions. That, of course, doesn't mean we always make sound financial decisions. We hope participation in this blog effort will be yet another positive influence upon our financial standing.

Here is a brief financial snapshot of our current situation:

• Two incomes
• Excellent insurance/benefits (through Amanda's job)
• Substantial student loan debt
• Some credit card debt (currently at 0%)
• 1 used car payment
• We eat out too much ;)

My blog responsibilities will relate to posting links to pertinent information. One of the biggest reasons I read other blogs is to find links to other great sites, articles, and resources. I hope to provide this opportunity for you the readers.

Additionally, Amanda and I hope to walk you through participation in The Simple Dollar's 31 Days to Fix Your Finances as we "fix our finances."

Both Amanda ('04; BS, Public Relations) and I ('05; BA, Bible) are alumni of Freed-Hardeman University. In the Fall, Lord willing, I will begin work on a Master's of Divinity from Regions University in Montgomery, Alabama.
